Delphinus Xcaret Holds a

Guinness World Record.

On March 20, 2009, a very special ceremony was held in the Xcaret Park facilities as the Delphinus Xcaret Dolphinarium proudly received the Guinness World Record for the greatest number of baby dolphin calves born in a single dolphinarium in a single year.

Following a rigorous process in which the information was verified and confirmed, the world-renowned organization, Guinness World Records, with headquarters in London and New York, made the decision to establish this world record and award it to Delphinus, specifically to its dolphinarium located in the Xcaret Eco-Arqueological Park, headquarters of the highly-successful dolphin reproduction program where an astounding eleven dolphin births occurred in the year 2008.

Francisco Córdova , Delphinus’ CEO commented: Achieving these results can only be made possible by investing in scientific knowledge, veterinarian staff and equipment of the highest level, as well as by training dolphins in a way that respects their physical and emotional integrity. I hope this Guinness Record inspires other companies to establish similar reproductive programs that advocate the conservation of marine mammals.

Xcaret Park has provided the Delphinus programs with the ideal place for the reproduction of these intelligent cetaceans by developing a healthy environment in which mother dolphins can give birth and raise their dolphin babies in comfort and safety. Here, mother dolphins, supported by other female dolphins with varying degrees of mothering skills and experience, care for their young during the first two years of life. In addition, company trainers, veterinarians and biologists keep watch over such important data as respiratory frequency, frequency of nursing, and interaction between mothers and their dolphin calves.

Currently, Delphinus Xcaret is the only dolphinarium in the world that offers the new program, “Xcaret Unique Dolphin Swim”, to the public. This one-of-a-kind in the entire world swim with dolphins enables participants to accompany mother dolphins and their babies as they playfully frolic in the water--an incomparable experience.
