Dolphins at Delphinus Riviera Maya
The goalie from America Soccer Club and member of the Mexican National Soccer Team, Guillermo Memo Ochoa left behind soccer training drills for a moment and accepted an invitation to visit Delphinus Riviera Maya, where he swam with dolphins for the first time.
"I'm very happy to have had this experience. What I liked the most was the close contact with them; there are no words to describe it." Memo said, expressing amazement for the intelligence shown by these cetaceans.
Guillermo caused quite a sensation during his visit to the dolphinarium, especially among the children, who shyly approached him to shake his hand and ask for an autograph, which Ochoa willingly gave with a big smile on his face. "It's a dream come true for children to see their favorite players. Besides that, it's a real pleasure to have people recognize your efforts, they help you realize you're doing a good job".
Ochoa rose in the ranks of the America Soccer Club, the team with whom he played his first game on February 15, 2004 in a match against Monterrey. He first began playing in the Mexican National Soccer Club in the year 2005 and was then invited to participate in the World Soccer Cup in Germany 2006, as alternate goalie to Oswaldo Sánchez.
Despite being only 22 years old and having devoted only two years to playing professionally, the young man from Jalisco was selected as the most valuable player of the Winter Tournament of Mexican Professional Soccer in 2005 and again in the CONCACAF Championship Cup in 2006. In 2007, the french magazine France Football included him in the list of nominees for the Golden Ball Award.
European Soccer Clubs such as Ajax of Amsterdam, Santander's Racing and the Manchester United have shown interest in signing him on; however, Ochoa confirmed that for now he will be concentrating on Mexican soccer and training hard for whatevr the future holds for him.
"Being on the Mexican National Team gives me great joy and pride, and I'll be working very hard to continue there for many years to come", he stated.
The charisma and popularity of this player from Jalisco has captured so much attention that even the EA Sports Company included him, along with Ronaldinho, on the cover of the North American version of the FIFA 08 multi-console video game.
