Francisco Córdova receives the "Hunab Ku" award of the Caribbean UniversityFrancisco Córdova
A committee integrated by representatives of the students, faculty and graduates of the school of Sustainable Tourism and Hotel Management, bestowed a Hunab Ku, an emblematic sculpture of the University designed and produced by the artist Silvia Arana, to B. Francisco Córdova Lira "for his valuable support of educational programs in the Caribbean University". This is the first time this recognition was awarded, and will become an annual tradition in order to acknowledge the people and the institutions that support university studies in our state.

Mr. Códova Lira, through Alquimia, the Xcaret Group and finally becoming part of Via Delphi, has given important support for the design and development of educational programs of the University, offering diverse actions and financing. The University's Tourism Community headed by Dean M.B.A. Fernando Espinosa de los Reyes expressed thru this award their appreciation on a brief ceremony on May 2 of the present year.
B. Francisco Córdova Lira showed gratitude towards this distinction and committed to continue supporting the University and, in a short term, help develop an update of the Sustainable Tourism and Hotel Management program.
Some of the most important aspects of the results obtained through the support of the sustainable tourism companies were Mr. Francisco Córdova was involved are:
- The first studies to design the bachelor's degree on Sustainable Tourism and Hotel Management began on June 2001.
- The board of directors of the once Alquimia Group, headed by Mr. Francisco Córdova Lira, financed consultations of the productive sector and the development of the programs for the new plan, that were concluded on 2002.
- In 2002 the new program of Sustainable Tourism and Hotel Management is offered with a big response during the enrolling period.
- In 2006 the first generation concluded their studies with 67 graduates.
- Nowadays 447 students are enrolled in the whole faculty.
- The Caribbean University was certified with the highest grade, 1 out of 3 possible, becoming part of the select group of 15% of all of the Mexican Universities that achieve a 90% of their educational programs at the best quality level according to the Interinstitutional Committee of Evaluation of Graduate and Postgraduate Education (CIEES), a collegiate registrars of the highest level from institutions of Graduate and Postgraduate Education from all of Mexico.
