Delphinus Sponsors the 1st Cancun Riviera Maya International Film Festival
Delphinus, proudly member of Grupo Via Delphi, confirms its commitment to Mexican culture and cinema by sponsoring the 1st Cancun Riviera Maya International Film Festival to be held from November 5-11, 2007 in Cancun, Playa Del Carmen as well as in other locations along the Riviera Maya and the State of Quintana Roo.
In its continuing efforts to promote community spirit under the leadership of Lic. Francisco Cordova Lira, managing director of Grupo Via Delphi, and through its participation in the 1st Cancun Riviera Maya International Film Festival, Delphinus is helping to spread regional, national and international culture as well as stimulate filmmaking in Mexico with the creation of new venues for the seventh art.

The six-day event is organized by Spanish film writer and director Pedro Valiente to showcase the best of international contemporary films. Its vision and focus are to promote the development of new values in the Mexican, Spanish-American and global film industry from markedly regional, cultural and artistic points of view, while also helping to encourage cultural tourism in Cancun.
Guests will include Guillermo Arreaga writer of multicultural blockbusters such as Amores Perros, 21 Grams, and Babel; Vicente Leñero, journalist, book author and author of the movie script for El Crimen del Padre Amaro [The Crime of Father Amaro]; Gustavo Loza who directed Atlético San Pancho and Al otro lado; Mauricio Durán a Colombian director and producer; Sergio Arau director of the movie Un dia sin Mexicanos [A Day without Mexicans]. It will include a homage to Mexican actor Jesus Ochoa famous for his roles in Asesino en serio, Voces Inocentes, and Nicotina, in recognition of his work and commitment to Mexican film industry.
Under the banner "Ecologia de Almas" [The Ecology of Souls] the festival will promote the showing, production and training of aspiring filmmakers. Its program will consist of a series of events that include an official contest for the best movie, film shorts, feature series, cinematic activities, art and culture. The event will also include a space reserved for ecology and development to encourage ecological values, sustainable development and environmental protection.
