Delphinus and Hotel Dreams Cancún - New swim with dolphins
January 2007- Delphinus successfully continues with its 2007 expansion plans, announcing the opening of its new dolphinarium at Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa, an Unlimited-Luxury resort located in the heart of the Cancun Hotel Zone and surrounded on three sides by the crystal-clear Caribbean.
Delphinus Dreams Cancun will start operations in April 2007, a unique attraction for the tourist destination: a luxury hotel offering guests Unlimited-Luxury with the unforgettable experience provided by its own dolphinarium. Cancun's visitors can now experience a natural encounter with dolphins based on respect for these amazing beings and their natural behavior, not to mention the pleasure of interacting with them in world-class facilities in the heart of Cancun.

Dreams Cancun is located in Punta Cancun, at kilometer 7.5 of the Cancun Hotel Zone. Delphinus Cancun offers this incomparable experience in nearly 22,000 sq. ft of impressive natural surroundings. Delphinus Dreams Cancun will be a full-service facility with ticket windows, bathrooms, showers, lockers, a special information area and top-notch digital technology, photography and DVD video services so visitors can take home a reminder of their magical experience with the dolphins.
With the opening of its newest generation of dolphinaria, Delphinus will create 60 direct and 300 indirect jobs, thanks to investment of $3 million USD.
Both companies are proud to join forces to launch a concept that will bring added value to our tourism destination. Known for their world-class standards, they have united efforts in order to create a truly unique concept and offer a first rate product.
Delphinus will not stop its expansion here; however, in 2008 the company expects to open a dolphinarium on Cozumel Island. This growth is possible thanks to Via Delphi's breeding program, considered one of the most successful in the world. Its survival rate more than triples that found in the wild, and doubles the survival rates in other such programs around the world. In this respect, the company expects six births of these beautiful mammals in 2007, one of which will represent the third generation of dolphins born at Via Delphi. In the opinion of marine mammal specialists, this successful reproduction is due to the appropriate size environments available to the dolphins and to the care they receive including veterinarian supervision, training, nutrition and the appropriate environment for socialization. Thus, Via Delphi contributes to the conservation of a species that is loved by humans all over the world.
With the opening of Delphinus Dreams Cancun, the company currently has five dolphinaria operated under criteria that have received international recognition by world-class organizations:
- The Socially Responsible Corporation Award, granted by the Mexican Philanthropy Center (CEMEFI), since 2004.
- The Best Places to Work in Mexico Award, given by the "Great Place to Work Institute".
- A Model of Equality between the Sexes since 2004, granted by the National Women's Institute.
- Adherent to the United Nations World Pact since 2005.
- Adherent to the Earth Letter.
- Elected Member of the National Scientific and Technological Institutions and Corporations Registry (RENIECyT), by the CONACYT, the National Science and Technology Council.
- Acceptance by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources' Registry of Public and Private Scientific and Museum Wild Species Collections.
In addition, Delphinus strictly operates five dolphinarium under the Ten Commandments set forth by the "Natural Friendship" good practice program, which is sponsored by the Via Delphi Institute for Research in Water Mammals.
